Presentation
The Postgraduate Program in Medical Sciences, academic modality, was implemented in 2020 with the Master's degree in Medical Sciences, recognized by CAPES/MEC. The Master's degree in Medical Sciences at MANDIC consists of 2 Areas of Concentration:
(I) AREA OF CONCENTRATION IN MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY:
Minimally invasive surgery has come to occupy a large space and scope in the surgical field as a whole over the last 30 years. Currently, it is integrated into various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, encompassing endoscopy, interventional radiology, and surgery itself across all surgical specialties and subspecialties. The aim is to delve deeper into its technical and scientific foundations to create and develop new applications of this method, increasingly seeking the integration of various areas of surgery as a discipline, the technical and scientific training of new researchers, and the encouragement of the development of artificial intelligence in this area of knowledge. The objective is to train teachers and researchers capable of developing new methodologies for health promotion and improved quality of life. This will enable the development of an interface between basic academic scientific research, the production of new technologies, the integration of various interfaces in the surgical field, and the real clinical application of new therapeutic possibilities for patients.
(II) AREA OF CONCENTRATION IN TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE:
Translational research applies basic science findings to projects aimed at improving human health and well-being. The goal is to apply findings from basic research to medical practice in order to produce and introduce new therapeutic targets, medications, devices, and treatment options for patients. The objective is to train teachers and researchers capable of developing research to better promote health and improve quality of life, with the possibility of scaling up production and registering patents for future clinical use. This will enable the development of an interface between academic basic scientific research, the production of new medications, and the real clinical application of new therapeutic possibilities for patients.
The Master's Program in Medical Sciences at MANDIC is committed to the solid training of qualified human resources for advanced and transformative professional practice, emphasizing the social context in which our graduates are embedded, as well as enabling them to perform teaching, research, and outreach functions with practical experience in the health field, inextricably linked to public policies appropriate to the local reality with a social vision. To this end, updated information, scientific evidence, and cutting-edge technologies will be used for teaching and research in the research areas that comprise the Program.
