Transparency and Compliance

Transparency and Compliance

The São Leopoldo Mandic College has a rigorous Compliance Program, in compliance with Law No. 12.846/2013, known as the Anti-Corruption Law, regulated by Decree No. 11.129/22, possibly being the first Higher Education Institution in Brazil to adopt internal control mechanisms and procedures related to the application of Codes of Ethics and Academic and Business Conduct within the college, its maintaining entity Sociedade Regional de Ensino e Saúde (SRES).

In November 2015, SRES approved the Code of Ethics and Academic and Business Conduct and established the Compliance Committee, governed by the Institution's Internal Regulations.

The Institution's Compliance Committee is responsible for creating and implementing rules that complement the Code of Ethics and Academic and Business Conduct. It acts preventively, conducting training, monitoring, and interacting with employees, faculty, students, and partners to ensure compliance with the Code. Furthermore, it is responsible for analyzing complaints and reports received through communication channels.

Communication Channels

  1.  Email: compliance@slmandic.hml.slmandic.edu.br
  2. Form (guarantee of secrecy and confidentiality)
  3. Mailing address: Rua Dr. José Rocha Junqueira, 13 – Ponte Preta, Campinas – SP, 13045-755. To the attention of the Compliance Officer

Compliance with the Code's rules is mandatory for all individuals who have a professional or academic relationship – employees, faculty, students, and partners (service providers of any kind) – with the Regional Society for Education and Health (São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty and its units: São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty of Araras; São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty of Limeira; Sertão Medical School).

The Code of Ethics and Academic and Business Conduct and the Internal Regulations are available for consultation on the Intranet TOGETHER AND IN COMPLIANCE!

The São Leopoldo Mandic College has a rigorous Compliance program, aimed at complying with the law on corporate probity (Law No. 12,846 of 2013, regulated by Decree No. 8,420 of 2015), being perhaps the first Higher Education Institution in Brazil to adopt internal control mechanisms and procedures related to the application of codes of ethics and academic and business conduct within the college, its sponsoring entity, and its other subsidiaries and units.

The Transparency and Compliance Policy also aims to guide the activities of the Ombudsman's Office, a department that establishes a communication channel between the management of São Leopoldo and the academic community, addressing suggestions and complaints so that they are resolved in a transparent and satisfactory manner for the institution's users.

Therefore, while the Ombudsman's role is to provide administrative transparency in handling matters related to the functioning of the Faculty, the Compliance sector is responsible for verifying compliance with the laws and internal regulations of São Leopoldo.

The term "Compliance," more widely used in the business world, originates from the English language and derives from the verb "to comply [with]." It means being in conformity with laws and regulations.

Usually, compliance systems are only related to accounting/financial audit issues. However, the Compliance Program developed for São Leopoldo Mandic has the main purpose of meeting the new regulatory framework for corporate probity and combating corruption.

Therefore, the Faculty created a committee responsible for analyzing suggestions or complaints directed to the Compliance channel and assisting the management of São Leopoldo in monitoring compliance with the Code of Ethics and Conduct and the laws, decrees, and other regulations applicable to the activities of its professionals and students.

Transparency and compliance management

In November 2015, São Leopoldo Mandic approved the Code of Ethics and Conduct, the compliance of which is monitored by the Faculty's Compliance Committee. The Committee is responsible for promoting the regulation of rules that complement the Code and verifying compliance with the institution's laws and regulations.

Compliance management is a responsibility of the committee, applying to all professionals in the administrative body and members of the academic community, including faculty and students.

Customer service and compliance channels

The Compliance Committee is also responsible for resolving doubts, arbitrating conflicts, and receiving suggestions, criticisms, complaints, and reports.

Complaints should be submitted in writing to the Faculty's compliance officer through one of the following channels:

Responsibility

The Faculty's Code of Ethics and Conduct establishes the principles and guidelines that must be followed by professionals and students of São Leopoldo Mandic.

Compliance with the Code's rules is mandatory for all individuals who have a professional or academic relationship with São Leopoldo Mandic. Therefore, the Compliance Committee oversees the actions of the Faculty's administrative staff and members of the academic community through due diligence mechanisms and procedures established to verify compliance with internal laws and regulations, in accordance with the institution's bylaws.

Application and validity

The provisions of this Policy apply immediately to administrative and teaching staff of São Leopoldo Mandic, and must also be respected and observed by all students and other individuals who wish to maintain professional and/or academic relationships with the Faculty.

The Compliance Committee is responsible for regulating the principles and guidelines established by the Faculty's management in the São Leopoldo Mandic Code of Ethics and Conduct, approved in November 2015, in a manner that complements the provisions of this Policy.

The Code of Ethics and Academic and Business Conduct and the Committee's Internal Regulations are available for consultation at the Secretariats and Libraries of all units of the São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty.
