The Ethics Committee on the Use of Animals at the São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty (CEUA – SLMandic) has as its main responsibility to ensure compliance with the rules regarding the humane use of animals for teaching and scientific research purposes, in accordance with current national legislation (Arouca Law, 11.794, of October 8, 2008) and international guidelines. The CEUA SLMandic is accredited by the National Council for the Control of Animal Experimentation (CONCEA), an agency within the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation; it has its own regulations and is composed of professionals from different fields, including professors, biologists, veterinarians, and representatives of animal protection societies.

Faculty and researchers who use anatomical specimens of animal origin must request a waiver of authorization from the CEUA SLMandic by completing the CEUA SLMandic Authorization Waiver Request Form for the Use of Anatomical Specimens, which must be submitted to the CEUA SLMandic (Animal Facility – 4th floor, Block B).
