São Leopoldo Mandic is rated as the best higher education institution in the health field in the State of São Paulo and the third best in Brazil
The institution maintains its top score in the IGC (General Course Index) and stands out among private colleges
Campinas, April 3, 2024 – Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic, a reference in Medicine and Dentistry, maintains the maximum score in the General Course Index (IGC), from MEC, released last Tuesday (2). The Institution was considered the best Higher Education institution in the State of São Paulo and the third best in Brazil in the health area among private colleges.
The performance refers to the year 2022 and demonstrates the evolution of Higher Education. 1998 institutions were evaluated, including colleges, universities, and university centers. The scores range from 1 to 5, and only 54 institutions received the maximum score, equivalent to 2.70%.
“Being considered the best in the health field among private colleges in the State of São Paulo and the second best in Brazil by the General Course Index (IGC) of the Ministry of Education only confirms our main objective: to provide the best professional training to transform the health sector in our country,” says Prof. Dr. José Luiz Junqueira, General Director of the São Leopoldo Mandic College.

The General Course Index (IGC) is a quality indicator from the Ministry of Education that evaluates Higher Education Institutions. Calculated annually, the score includes the weighted average of the Preliminary Course Concepts and the concepts from the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), responsible for evaluating the postgraduate programs of the institutions.
A leading institution in education in Brazil and abroad, Faculdade São Leopoldo Mandic has a unique pedagogical project in which students have theoretical and practical classes and clinical activities from the first year of their undergraduate studies in both Medicine and Dentistry. The Faculty boasts state-of-the-art laboratories, its own hospital, a robotic hospital, a radiology center with digital equipment, CT scanners, and modern clinics for practical teaching of the professions. In addition to laboratories with realistic simulation exercises using modern diagnostic resources, the institution carries out social projects, such as the Health Boat, and has an Innovation HUB. The faculty is composed of PhDs and post-doctoral researchers with extensive intellectual output. The institution has four undergraduate units, nine postgraduate units in Brazil, and one abroad, in Portugal.
