EPIDEMIOLOGY AND DIAGNOSIS OF DISEASES AND HEALTH PROMOTION –
To evaluate health and disease processes at the individual and collective levels, focusing on understanding their etiopathological aspects, as well as on diagnostic investigation and strategies aimed at care, assistance, control, and treatment directed at health problems and diseases.
Eiopathogenesis of Stomatognathic System Diseases and Therapeutic Approaches
To evaluate the etiopathogenesis of oral diseases related to the host, such as genetic alterations, microbiota and immunoregulation, as well as applied therapeutic approaches.
Oral Rehabilitation and Properties of Dental Materials and Dental Substrates –
To evaluate through experimental means (laboratory, clinical and stress analysis) and observational means (questionnaires, satisfaction level, perception of treatment quality) related to oral rehabilitations (direct and indirect restorations and conventional and implant-supported prostheses).

To evaluate the physical, mechanical, and biological properties of materials and techniques related to implant dentistry, bone regeneration, and respective maxillofacial rehabilitation, as well as their clinical performance.

DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF FORENSIC TOOLS FOR SCIENTIFIC IMPROVEMENT IN LEGAL DENTISTRY
The study of dental sciences in service of forensic examination of the living and the dead, as well as in criminal, civil and administrative matters. The testing and validation of existing tools for national and international forensic dental practice. The development of improvements that allow for accurate performance in forensic practice in light of the law. The knowledge and promotion of the interface between forensic dentistry and human rights. The use of teaching, research and university extension as mechanisms for the transformation of Brazilian forensic dentistry. Multidisciplinary professional practice supported by internationalization for the scientific and technological development of forensic dentistry.
Area of Concentration in Oral Pathology
Etiopathogenesis and Immunomodulation of Neoplastic and Non-Neoplasic Processes:
Research into the etiopathogenic, prognostic factors, and genetic alterations of oral diseases, in order to study factors related to the host, immunoregulation, and microbiota involved in health/disease processes, as well as factors associated with neoplastic and non-neoplastic processes, such as extracellular matrix proteins, growth factors, oxidative stress, and cell death.
